Endorsed Extraordinary Opportunities
The below externally funded extraordinary opportunities (EOs) require an institutional selection process, or endorsement, from the university through NCAT EO prior to national deadlines.
Therefore, campus/endorsement applications for these EOs should be prepared as though they are the final/national application.
- Please complete this brief intent-to-apply form as soon as possible and ideally at least four (4) weeks before the deadlines listed below.
- Follow-up by with Ms. Gallop by email and/or by booking a Calendly appointment. She will assist you in preparing your strongest possible endorsement application(s).

2024-25 NCAT EO endorsement* application deadlines (5PM ET)
Returning undergraduates:
- WHI HBCU Scholar Recognition Program (all legible undergraduate and graduate students): March 4
- ESU Luard Morse Scholarship (2nd-years): October 1
- Astronaut Scholarship (2nd- and 3rd years with STEM research/internships): January 21
- Goldwater Scholarship (2nd- and 3rd years pursuing STEM research careers): December 17
- Udall Scholarship (2nd- and 3rd years committed to issues related to the environment or to American Indian/Native Alaskan communities):: January 21
- Beinecke Scholarship (NEW for N.C. A&T) (3rd years with financial need planning to earn a graduate degree in the arts, humanities, or social sciences): January 21
- Truman Scholarship (3rd years who are future "change agents" and aspire to leadership in a public service career): December 17
- Fulbright Program grant: August 13, 2024 (candidates who miss this deadline should still reach out)
- Gaither Junior Fellows Program: December 17
- Marshall Scholarship: September 3
- Mitchell Scholarship: on hiatus
- Rhodes Scholarship: September 3
- Boren Scholarship/NSEP (all eligible undergrads): October 1 (if seeking campus representative evaluation form)
- Gilman International Program (requires certifications, not endorsement) (all eligible undergrads): apply by Oct. 10 and Mar. 6
- Gilman-McCain Scholarship (part of the Gilman International Program): apply by Aug. 1 and Oct. 10
- Boren Fellowship/NSEP (all eligible graduate students): October 1 (if seeking campus representative evaluation form)
- UNCF Achievement Capstone Scholarship (all eligible undergraduates graduating in May 2025): November 26 (if seeking institutional nomination)
