Host Counties

The upcoming Student Internship Program is designed to provide students with hands-on experience in Extension work while supporting counties in their programming. Below is an overview of what counties can expect.

Supervision & Program Area

Each intern will be paired with a County Extension Director/County agent within a designated program area.

Schedule

Interns will work 40 hours per week for 11 weeks. Counties should provide a rough draft agenda/itinerary outlining weekly activities.

Learning Opportunities

  • Assisting with camps and program implementation
  • Shadowing Extension agents across different program areas
  • Developing marketing materials (flyers, postings, social media, etc.)

Special Project

Each intern will be expected to complete a special project during their 11-week placement. Last year, interns created promotional videos to market their counties, which counties were then able to use even after the internship ended. We have attached examples of these videos from last year for reference. This year, we are looking to enhance and amplify this concept, and we welcome any suggestions you may have. More details will be shared soon.
