Office of Violence Against Women Campus Program
About this Program
The U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Violence Against Women (OVW) Campus Program Grant is to reduce Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence, Dating Violence, and Stalking on campuses across the country. It was created by Congress in recognition of the unique issues and challenges that colleges and universities face in preventing and responding to sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking for all students.
The Campus Program encourages a comprehensive coordinated community approach that enhances victim safety, provides services for victims, and supports efforts to hold offenders accountable. The funding supports activities that develop and strengthen trauma informed victim services and strategies to prevent, investigate, and respond to sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking.
Our Goal
To make our campus safer by providing interactive programing, training, and resources that work seamlessly with other entities and partners here on campus, in Greensboro, and across North Carolina.
- Establish and uphold a comprehensive response (both intervention and prevention) to Domestic Violence, Dating Violence, Sexual Assault and Stalking (DVSAS), led by the Coordinated Community Response Team (CCRT) that utilizes the expertise of stakeholders within the community.
- Increase the effectiveness of the team responsible for presenting and overseeing the implementation of the prevention and education program. The program will utilize technical assistance providers with experience in engaging a range of student populations. NC A&T SU will also continue to assess the overall effectiveness of the prevention and intervention program.
- Make training available for all Office of Judicial Affairs/Student Conduct board members while incorporating specific areas of resolution and adjudication training on Domestic Violence, Dating Violence, Sexual Assault and Stalking
- Improve law enforcement response to sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking by identifying and addressing bias in investigations and interactions.
- Forge partnerships with external community-based victim service providers specializing in diverse forms of DVSAS to support students and staff facing related issues
