You should submit a referral to BIT if you observe behaviors that may pose a potential threat to the safety of an individual or the university community, such as signs of emotional distress, aggression, threats of violence, or any behavior that could escalate into harm.
For concerns about a student’s academic performance, emotional well-being, social behavior, or overall health, submit a referral to the Aggie CARE Team. This includes issues like mental health struggles, financial difficulties, housing instability, or other challenges that may affect the student's success.

Yes, submissions to the BIT/CARE Team are confidential. Information will only be shared with individuals or departments on a need-to-know basis to ensure appropriate support and intervention. The team may contact the initial reporter if further information or involvement is required.

Referrals can be made anonymously, but we encourage providing contact information to facilitate follow-up if additional details are needed. While the referral process is confidential, information will only be shared with those directly involved in support or intervention, to the extent possible. The individual of concern will not be informed of who made the referral, helping to protect your privacy and identity throughout the process.

Once a referral is submitted, the respective office (CARE or BIT) will assess the reported concern and determine the best course of action. You may be contacted if additional information is needed, or further involvement is required. The referral will be reviewed, its urgency assessed, and a tailored plan of action will be implemented. as appropriate.
