The Graduate College

New Graduate Student Orientation

We are delighted to welcome you to a new graduate program at N.C. A&T!

The Graduate College provides three Orientation components for new graduate students to help you learn about essential policies, procedures, and resources and get you ready to start your program.

Component 1: Online Orientation Module

This is an online, self-guided module that is mandatory for all new graduate students and must be completed on your own prior to attending Virtual Orientation (Component 2). The online module introduces you to the University and familiarizes you with key policies, processes, and resources for graduate students.

Component 2: Virtual Orientation

This is an Orientation webinar that is mandatory for all new graduate students. For Fall 2025, we are offering Virtual Orientation on three dates. You need to attend ONE of the following three options. Please REGISTER for the session you'd like to attend using the link.

  • Wednesday, June 18, 2025 - Agenda:
    • 10:00am-12:00pm ET: General Orientation Session for all new graduate students (Zoom webinar)
    • 1:00-2:30pm ET: Program-specific curriculum overview and registration assistance with your department/program (Zoom meeting)

    • 1:00-2:30pm ET: Program-specific curriculum overview and registration assistance with your department/program (Zoom meeting)
  • Wednesday, August 6, 2025 - Agenda:
    • 10:00am-12:00pm ET: General Orientation Session for all new graduate students (Zoom webinar)
    • 1:00-2:30pm ET: Program-specific curriculum overview and registration assistance with your department/program (Zoom meeting)

Component 3: In-Person Orientation Experience

This Component is optional, but is highly recommended for all students entering an on-campus program and is also open to students entering an online program who live nearby and wish to participate. The In-Person Orientation Experience provides a full day of programming that includes a campus resource fair, campus tours, student engagement activities coordinated with the Graduate Student Association (GSA), and additional opportunities for advising/registration assistance from your department/program.

  • The registration link for the In-Person Orientation Experience will be available soon.

Additional Orientation Requirements

In addition to the Graduate College's three Orientation Components described above (Components 1 and 2 mandatory, Component 3 optional), there may be additional Orientation requirements depending on your program and your student status. The following components are in addition to Components 1-3 above, not in place of them.

  • Department/Program/College Sessions: Your department/program/College may hold a separate, required onboarding/Orientation session. These sessions might be held on different days than the Graduate College's Virtual Orientation or In-Person Experience. Please look for communications from your department/program for information about any additional Orientation sessions/events.
  • International Students - Check-in and Orientation: New international students on an F-1 or J-1 visa must arrive on campus and complete the SEVIS check-in process with the Office of International Affairs (OIA) before they are allowed to register for classes. OIA usually provides an International Student Orientation prior to the start of classes to support new international students, so please look for communications about this if it applies to you.
  • Online Students - Additional Resources: Students entering an online program will also have access to resources provided by the Extended Campus, the office that oversees online programs at N.C. A&T. Please look for communications about this if it applies to you.
