About Our Department
The Department of English is a vibrant academic community where students explore literature, language, and writing to develop creativity, critical thinking, and strong communication skills. Our programs include a flexible English minor, a mission-driven First-Year Composition curriculum, and a specialized Master of Arts in English and African American Literature. We also offer a career-focused Graduate Certificate in Technical and Professional Communication, designed to equip students and professionals with practical writing skills for today's workplace.

Bachelor of Arts in English
Our BA program offers concentrations in literature, professional writing, and teacher education, preparing students for diverse careers. Our First Year Composition Curriculum (FYC) provides a strong foundation in writing and critical thinking through our our first-year composition courses. We offer a Bachelor of Arts in English with concentrations in:
- African American Literature
- Creative Writing
- Professional Writing
- Technical Writing
We also offer a flexible Minor in English for students in other majors.
