Admissions Process and Preferences
Our admissions committee reviews all eligible applications on the basis of several key elements including; academic performance, depth and breadth of healthcare experience, research and scholarly contributions, and contributions to the mission and goals of the program.
Preference is given to applicants with the following characteristics:

- Alignment with program mission and vision
- Completion of highly recommended and recommended preparatory coursework
- Extraordinary life experiences (distance traveled, military service, fluency in multiple languages, global health work)
- North Carolina A&T affiliation
- Residence in medically underserved or health professional shortage area
- Applicants with leadership experience
- Direct patient care experience and hours
- Research experience or other scholarly work
- Candidates that exceed the minimum academic requirements
- Mission/vision/goal
- Extraordinary Life experiences including a passion for a commitment to serving the underserved
- Leadership and tenacity in service to the underserved
