EAST GREENSBORO, N.C. (Oct. 16, 2019) – Strategic leadership practices are immeasurably important for the growth of organizational structure and innovation.
Students at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University will lead the Fifth Annual Contemporary Issues in Transformative and Innovative (CITI) Leadership Conference held by the Department of Leadership Studies and Adult Education. The two-day event will take place Friday, Oct. 18, from 4 – 9 p.m., in Proctor Hall; and Saturday, Oct. 19, from 8:30 a.m. – 2 p.m., in the Academic Classroom Building.
Elaborating on the conference theme, “Bridging the Generational Divide to Activism Through Leadership and Service,” Ivory Toldson, Ph.D., president and CEO of the QEM Network; Howard University professor; and editor-in-chief of The Journal of Negro Education, will keynote the event.
“The CITI conference provides an intentional platform for students to cultivate and increase their global leadership skills and innovative ideas,” said Keith Graves, Ph.D., professor and conference coordinator. “It’s not enough for them to be learning leadership skills, they must utilize them in order to be ahead of the curve once they enter the professional field.”
Each year CITI addresses leadership challenges, strategies and delivery systems in local and global societies through research, scholarship and Praxis. This year’s conference will include workshops, paper, poster and research presentations and roundtable discussions examining: global, educational, organizational, STEM and ethical leadership; civic and community engagement; social justice activism; and health science.
Conference registration is available online for students and professionals ($35 and $50 respectively).
