EAST GREENSBORO, N.C. (July 8, 2024) – Money magazine’s newest edition of its Best Colleges rankings recognizes North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University as the most affordable doctoral research university in America for the second consecutive year.
Money’s Best Colleges 2024 ranks America’s best 745 colleges and universities on a variety of factors, including “Estimated Full Price, 2024-25.” North Carolina A&T’s cost of $20,100 is the lowest among all doctoral research universities in the rankings.
When the average student financial aid grant is factored in, A&T’s average full price is $9,700 – and 92% of its first-year students receive financial aid support. For low-income students, the average falls even lower to $7,600.
A&T leaders have worked to keep the cost of the Aggie Experience at the nation’s largest historically Black college or university (HBCU) affordable. Like other campuses in the University of North Carolina System, the coming academic year will be its eighth consecutive year without a tuition increase for in-state undergraduates. A&T has coupled that with affordable campus housing and dining options and a textbook program that cuts the cost of access to essential classroom texts by as much as 60%.
Even at its relatively low cost, A&T provides students with an exceptional experience. A&T is ranked one of America’s 25 “most innovative” universities by U.S. News & World Report and produces more Black STEM graduates than any other university in America. Those graduates go on to earn the second-highest starting salaries of any UNC System campus, according to PayScale compensation analysts.
A&T’s rich HBCU culture is second to none and features such major events as the Greatest Homecoming on Earth, which brings more than 50,000 visitors to Greensboro each fall, and the Chancellor’s Speaker Series, which has hosted Magic Johnson, Issa Rae, Sterling K. Brown, Tracee Ellis Ross, Kerry Washington and many more.Media Contact Information: thsimmons@ncat.edu
