Campus Heating Outage Affects Seven Buildings; Closures and Other Changes Announced

10/29/2025 Faculty, Staff, Students

University facilities and housing officials are addressing a campus heating outage affecting heat in seven buildings, including two residence halls.

Five academic buildings are affected and are closed immediately until Monday, Nov. 3:

  • General Classroom Building
  • Craig Hall
  • Merrick Hall
  • Robeson Theater
  • Crosby Hall

Classes scheduled to meet in those buildings are moving to synchronous, online instruction where possible. Students should contact their instructors for more information. Any activities scheduled for these buildings should be coordinated with the University Event Center via the 25Live platform.

Staff assigned to these buildings should consult with their supervisors for work arrangements during the closure.

Cooper and Morrow residence halls are also affected by the outage. Housing and Residence Life is working with residents in both halls and offering multiple options to get through this temporary event, including off-campus lodging. These halls are expected to reopen by Friday, Oct. 31, but may come online sooner.
